The short version: you can use every part of Dhikr Island without telling us who you are. If you choose to sign in, we hold the profile and account information described below. We do not sell anything to anyone, ever.
You do not need an account or need to give us your name or email address to use the app. The app has no advertising or tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
We count the devices that use the app. To do it the app makes up a random number for itself, keeps it on your iPhone, and sends it with the language you read in — so that ten visits from one phone are not mistaken for ten people, and so we can tell whether anybody comes back. This identifier is generated by the app, separate from your sign-in and Live Activity identifiers. We store it in Firebase with your language and first and most recent visit dates to count devices and return visits. We do not attach your name or email address to this analytics record or use it for advertising.
That number stays on the phone through deleting and reinstalling the app, which is the point of it — a count that started again every reinstall would not be a count of devices. It is not copied to your other devices.
Your choice of icon, theme, dhikr, language, and appearance is stored on your iPhone. It is also copied to your own private iCloud so that it follows you to a new phone. We cannot read your private iCloud storage. If you start a Live Activity, the display settings needed to update it are also sent to our server as described below.
Signing in is optional and the app is complete without it. It exists so your name can appear on your own menu screen, and so that we can tell which of our subscribers is which when you write to us for help.
Your profile includes the name you chose to share, your email address, a sign-in identifier, and account dates. We also hold any account grant or subscription link used to provide access.
With Apple, you may use Hide My Email, in which case the address we hold forwards to you and we never learn your real one.
With Google, Google handles the sign-in and passes us your name and email address. What Google does with the fact that you signed in is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
You can request deletion from the account screen in Menu. Once deletion completes, we remove your profile, authentication record and account-linked Live Activity registrations, and unlink your account from payment records. If a request fails, the app lets you retry.
On Google's Firebase service, in the United States. Google processes it on our instructions and does not use it for anything of its own.
Only the developer of this app can read it. There is no other staff.
We do not sell or rent this information or share it for advertising. Firebase processes it to operate the app; support email delivery may also use SendGrid. We may disclose information where the law requires it.
Apple handles all payment. We never see your card, your billing address, or your Apple ID.
Apple tells us when a subscription starts, renews, lapses or is refunded, so that we know who our subscribers are. That record holds the plan, the dates, and — only if you signed in — which account it belongs to.
A subscriber who never signed in is recorded without any name attached. Their subscription works exactly the same.
When you start a Live Activity, we store its push token, an installation identifier, and the icon, theme, dhikr and language settings needed to update it. Verified subscription evidence and your account identifier, if signed in, allow the server to apply the right access when sending updates. These records are separate from the anonymous device-counting record.
The app downloads its icons and wording from our server so that new ones can be added without an App Store update. Making that request reveals your IP address to Google's servers, as visiting any website does. It is not stored by us and is not connected to you.
Everything the app needs is also built into it, so it works with no connection at all.
When you press Send in the app or website support form, your name, email address, topic, message, app name, language and source are sent to our support service and stored in Firebase. Messages may also be delivered to our support inbox through SendGrid. We use them to answer your request.
Your profile is kept until account deletion completes. Limited deletion markers and recovery-proof hashes remain to finish interrupted deletions and prevent delayed requests from restoring deleted account links. Payment history remains without those account links. Support correspondence is retained separately.
Subscription records, for seven years after the subscription ends, because tax law requires records of sales.
Support messages, for two years.
The app is suitable for all ages, and a child can use every part of it without signing in. We do not knowingly hold information about anyone under thirteen. If you believe a child has signed in, write to us and it will be deleted.
You may ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it. Write to us from the Support screen and we will answer within thirty days.
The quickest route to erasure is in the app itself: Menu, Sign in, Delete account.
If you are in the UK or the European Union you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
This policy will change as the app changes. Where a change means we hold something new about you, the app will say so plainly before it does.
Questions about privacy: write to us from the Support screen in the app, or at dhikrisland.com
